Ottokar Domma

Otto Homes aka Ottokar Domma ( born May 20, 1924 in Schankau / Cankov in Carlsbad (now Karlovy Vary ), Czechoslovakia, † July 15, 2007 in Woltersdorf ) was a German writer and journalist who was best known for his satirical books with whose main character of the students Ottokar Domma is. Domma is called in Russian "houses" or " at home " (Russian: дома [ dʌma ] = houses, plural of дом [ dɔm ] = house).

Biography

Houses grew in Breitenbach on Johann George Town. They say he was expelled from school because of insubordination against teachers in the 9th grade. After he had finished an apprenticeship as a commercial advertisers, he became a soldier. After military service in World War II, he was junior high school teachers at a village school in Saxony- Anhalt and later headmaster in Tangerhütte. Since the 1950s, he was active as a writer. Otto Homes was qualified teacher and later a senior teacher. He lived in Schoneiche.

Literary work

Houses wrote for the Eulenspiegel and wrote cabaret texts, in particular for the Berlin teacher cabaret "Die Laughing consultant ". At the same time, he wrote in the GDR also serious articles on educational topics in the New Germany.

Prominent is his " Ottokar " series: From the perspective of twelve-year Ottokar Domma he described satirical everyday life in an East German school and family - both before and after the turn. These stories first appeared in the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel, 1967 in book form. To Ottokar series two records with recordings of public events in which las houses themselves, as well as the 1976 movie Ottokar of do-gooders formed.
