Ouarsenis

The Ouarsenis or Ouanchariss (Arabic الونشريس ), El Ouanchariss, Berber: Ouarsnis, are a mountain range in northwestern Algeria. Quarsenis means in the Berber -speaking world as much as " nothing more ".

The mountain is located about 80 km south of the Mediterranean and reached its maximum height of 1985 m with the Mount Sidi Amar, who is about 60 kilometers west of Tissemsilt. Another notable peak is 1850 m high " Achaoun ". The mountain range extends from north-easterly direction along the Cheliff to l' Oued Mina in the west and Sersou Plateau in the south. The mountain is characterized by extensive cedar forests. Even agriculture has regional significance. Affected are the provinces of Medea, Ain defla, Tissemsilt, Chlef and Tiaret.

Population

The inhabitants are predominantly of Berber origin. Many are descended from the Banu Ifran or Magrawa, both strains are due to the Zanata.
