The river Oulankajoki (Russian Оуланкайоки, Оланка, transcription: Olanka ) flows in a west-east direction, the low mountains of the Kuusamo region in the Finnish countryside Nordoesterbotten just south of the Arctic Circle. The origins of the river in the bog areas near Salla. Later it flows through lakes and meandering flow paths. In Oulanka National Park, the river breaks through canyon-like rock breakthroughs. Coming from the south meets the Kitkajoki on the Oulankajoki. After crossing into Russia, the Kuusinkijoki coming from the south meets the Oulankajoki before it empties into the Paanajärvi Lake. As Olanka sets the flow from the east end of the lake to Pjaosero continued its course.
Leisure
The Oulankajoki is a popular river for multi-day canoe trips. In the upper reaches of commercial rafting takes place.
