Outlaws (1960 TV series)

Outlaws is an American Western series that was produced 1960-1962.

Action

Outlaws tells of the adventures of the United States Marshal Frank Caine in the Oklahoma Territory in the 1890s, the aftermath of the Oklahoma Land Run, as within a short time tens of thousands of settlers flowed into the territory. In order to maintain peace and order, the President of the United States sent several marshals to Oklahoma. Frank Caine is accompanied by his Deputy Will Foreman. At the beginning of the second season of the lead actor Don Collier left the series, after Barton MacLanes role was promoted from deputy to Marshal. As a new Deputy him Chalk Breeson was set aside. Also appearing only in the second season is the figure of Slim.

Background

The first season was still being produced in black and white, the second season then in color. While it was still told from the perspective of the criminals in the first season, the narrative changed in the second season to the more common perspective of the law guardian.

For known guest stars of the series included James Coburn, Vic Morrow, Cliff Robertson, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.
