Outlaws (Band)
Outlaws are an American rock band. In addition to groups like the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Charlie Daniels Band and Black Oak Arkansas, they are among the most important representatives of the Southern Rock.
The Outlaws were founded in 1972 in Tampa, Florida. The founding members were Billy Jones ( guitar), Henry Paul ( guitar), Hughie Thomasson (guitar), Monte Yoho (drums ) and Frank O'Keefe ( bass). O'Keefe was in 1977 replaced by Harvey Arnold. With the qualities of Hugh Thomasson, who composed most of the songs, the band created in a short time a large following. Her first recording contract the band signed with the Arista label. The debut album reached number 13 on the Billboard charts. This was also due to her famous song " Green Grass And High Tides ", with which the band was especially convincing live.
Other successes were the Outlaws with " There Goes Another Love Song" and recorded "Lady In Waiting ". "Lady in Waiting" was also the title of their second album. The effort of a large tour of the States made it necessary to look for a second drummer.
One after another left Henry Paul, Monte Yoho and Harvey Arnold 1979 the band. In 1981, the band with the title song of their new album "Ghost Rider" to get into the Top 20. This was initially the last major success. Hugh Thomasson remained the only founding member and dissolved the band shortly after the release of the album " Les Hombres Malo " in order to regroup after a few solo albums in 1986 and again. By 2005, Hughie Thomasson was for nine years a permanent member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, where he was also active as a songwriter.
The founding members of Hughie Thomasson, Henry Paul and Monte Yoho went with the Outlaws from 2005 again on tour in the States. In January 2006, Henry Paul left with Dave Robbins, the Outlaws to devote themselves to their band project Blackhawk. The last tour of the Outlaws in 2007 ended abruptly with the sudden death of Hughie Thomasson on 9 September 2007.
In December 2007, new tour dates for 2008 was released on the band's homepage. The band consists of since Henry Paul (guitar / vocals), Chris Anderson (guitar / vocals), Billy Crain (guitar), Jon Coleman (keyboards), Randy Threet ( bass), and Monte Yoho (drums).
