Oxalyldiaminopropionsäure is a non- proteinogenic amino acid found in the seed - pea ( Lathyrus sativus ). The substance is neurotoxic and is regarded as the cause of lathyrism. It comes to convulsions and spastic paralysis. This is probably a consequence of the similarity with L- glutamate.
