Özcan Arkoç

Özcan Arkoç ( born October 2, 1939 in Hayrabolu, Tekirdag Province ) is a former Turkish football goalkeeper and coach.

Playing career

Özcan began his career as a youth player in Turkey Vefa Istanbul. Then he played in the first Turkish league, today's Süper Lig, Fenerbahçe Istanbul (1958-1962) and Beşiktaş Istanbul ( 1962-1964 ). During this period he also completed his nine A- internationals. His debut in the Turkish national team, he gave shortly after his 19th birthday on October 28, 1958 in a 1-1 draw against Belgium. In 1964, he moved to Austria to FK Austria Wien in the 1st Bundesliga. From 1967 to 1975, he then played as a goalkeeper for Hamburger SV in the German Bundesliga. He was, until 1974, the goalkeeper of the club until he was replaced by Rudi Kargus. When Hamburger SV he completed 159 games.

Coaching career

After the end of his playing career, he worked from 1976 to 1977 as an assistant coach at Hamburger SV. On October 28, 1977, he replaced Rudi Good village from as head coach. He reached the 10th place in the table with eight wins in 22 games in his first coaching season. At the end of the season he was released.

In his other coach stations in the second division Wormatia Worms and Holstein Kiel, he was released early. Even in his native Turkey, he was able to achieve more success as a coach.
