Pachypodium rutenbergianum
Rutenbergianum Pachypodium is a plant of the genus Pachypodium in the family of the dogbane family ( Apocynaceae ).
Description
Pachypodium rutenbergianum is a 3-8 m tall tree. The strain reached at the base of a diameter of 60 cm and is bottle-shaped or pointed upward. A sparse canopy of thick forked branches is at its peak. The plant is covered with short, conical spines, and between two 2-15 mm long thorns is each a third, shorter spine. The leaves are hairless, they are 16 cm long, 4.5 cm wide and are short-stalked.
The flowers are in groups on the shoot tips. They are white, 4-6 cm long and 3.5 to 7 cm wide. The corolla tube has a diameter of up to 6 mm. The Corolla lobe are inclined and have a gekrausten edge.
The fruits are cigar-shaped, 16 cm long and 1.5 to 6 cm wide. The seeds have a size of 12 mm.
Dissemination
The species is widespread in Madagascar.
