Padrauna (Hindi: पडरौना Padrauna [ pʌɖrɔ ː na ] ) is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh with around 44,000 inhabitants ( 2001 census). It is located approximately 75 kilometers east of Gorakhpur and 240 kilometers north-east of Varanasi in northeastern Uttarpradeshs near the border of the neighboring Federal State of Bihar. 22 km south of Padrauna is the Buddhist pilgrimage site Kushinagar, the place of death of the Buddha. Padrauna 's largest city and administrative headquarters of the district of Kushinagar.
