Pakistani general election, 2013

The parliamentary elections in Pakistan in 2013 were held on May 11, 2013. Were elected the 342 members of Pakistan's National Assembly and the parliamentary assemblies of the provinces of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly " North West ").

Background

The elections were the first elections in Pakistan's history, in which an elected government had been replaced by the full 5 years of their term of office (since the 2008 election ) through regular elections. All previous elected governments were either not stayed so long in office, or been deposed by military coups. The number of registered voters was about 86.19 million. During the campaign, three major political groups faced each other substantially. Firstly, the socialist-oriented Pakistan People's Party ( Pakistan Peoples Party, PPP), together with the allied Pakistan Muslim League ( Q) (Pakistan Muslim League (Q ), 'Q' for " Quaid e Azam "), a nationalist party of the middle spectrum. Second, in the area of the conservative spectrum, the Pakistan Muslim League ( N) ( Pakistan Muslim League ( N) 'N' for Nawaz ( Sharif ) ), allied with the Sunni Tehreek, a radical Sunni Islamist party with decidedly anti- Christian and anti- Shiite targets. And thirdly, the more in the political center settled parties Pakistan Tehreek -e- Insaf, Majlis Wahdat -e- Muslimeen ( a moderate Islamic modernist Shiite party ), Jamaat -e -Islami ( a conservative Islamic party ) and the political Nawab Salahuddin Abbasi of movement.
