Sägegarnele ( Palaemon serratus)

The Sägegarnele ( Palaemon serratus) is a cancer of the genus rock shrimp ( Palaemon ) in the family of rocks and partner shrimp ( Palaemonidae ). Sometimes it is based on the English name common prawn also called Common Prawn.

The rostrum, which is the mean projection of the carapace is long, pointed and curved upwards. It has at the top and bottom of 6-7 Dorsalzähne 4 or 5 Ventralzähne.

Dissemination

The Common Prawn lives in a habitat that ranges from the sea coasts of Scotland and Denmark to the Western Sahara, the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands in the eastern Atlantic. It also occurs in the Mediterranean and Black Sea.

She lives on rocky and stony coasts in the lower intertidal and subtidal up to the depth of 40 meters and is therefore generally found at greater depths than Palaemon elegans.
