Palden Tenpai Nyima, 7th Panchen Lama

Penchen Tenpe Nyima ( Tib: pan chen pa'i nyi ma bstan; * 1782, † 1853) was the fourth title Penchen Lama and is regarded as the seventh Penchen Lama of the Gelug tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

Life

After Penchen Lobsang Yeshe Pelden died 1780 in Beijing of smallpox, the 10th Shamar wrote in 1782 a letter to Warren Hastings, in which he informed him the discovery of a new incarnation of the Penchen Lama.

1810 was the 9th Dalai Lama Nyima Tenpe the lay Buddhist vows at the Potala Palace and called him " Lungtog Gyatsho ".

After Lungtok Gyatsho had died in 1815, eight years passed until a new Dalai Lama selected. Finally Tenpe Nyima agreed to use it as part of the selection process for the new incarnation of the Dalai Lama for the first time the Golden Urn. In 1822 the 10th Dalai Lama was chosen, who was soon to Tenpe Nyima received by the lay Buddhist vows and the name " Tshülthrim Gyatsho ". In 1833 Tshülthrim Gyatsho of Tenpe Nyima full ordination.

After the death Tshülthrim Gyatshos 1837 recognized Tenpe Nyima 1842 a new Dalai Lama, gave him the lay Buddhist vows and called him " Khedrub Gyatsho ".

In the same year was apparently feared the Penchen Lama danger threatened by the then regent (Tibetan: sde srid; Desi ) in Lhasa, Ngawang Jampel Tshülthrim Gyatsho ( 1792-1862/1864; was 1837-1843 and 73 Ganden Thripa ), whereupon Tenpe Nyima set off in the direction of eastern Tibet. To ensure him a safe journey kidnapped monks of Sera Monastery three ministers of the government of the regent. This led to the declaration of a " national emergency " and Tenpe Nyima was invited by Tsang return to Lhasa. In August 1844, he was employed as a " regent of Tibet." Penchen Tenpe Nyima died in 1853 at the age of 71 years. Among the numerous written works Tenpe Nyima is his encyclopedic work on sadhanas ( Tib: sgrub thabs ) and deities " Rinjung Lhantab " ( Tib. rin ' byung lhan thabs ) is particularly known in the text " The clear meaning of the jewels of mine. Rinjung Gyatsa " of Taranatha with its three hundred practices " that is " even expanded.
