Palisades (New York)

Palisades is a district of the town of Orangetown Rockland County, New York, United States.

He was formerly known as Sneden 's Landing and then known as Rockland and is located north of Rockleigh and Alpine, New Jersey; east of Tappan; south of Sparkill and west of the Hudson River. Palisades has its own library and post office. The district consists almost exclusively of residential development, with the exception of a small industrial area on the border of Tappan. Known as Snedens Landing area is located in the eastern part of Palisades between U.S. Highway 9W and the Hudson River.

In Palisades, there is the monument as a registered historic district Closter Road - Oak Tree Road Historic District. This includes the area from the north side of Closter Road and the south side of Oak Tree Road, about half a mile west of U.S. Highway 9W. ( List of Registered Historic Places in Rockland County, New York). Also significant is the Lamont - Doherty Earth Observatory ( Columbia University ). Sneden 's Landing is mentioned in Alec Wilder's song " Did You Ever Cross Over to Sneden 's? ".
