Pan Chengdong

Chengdong Pan, Pan Cheng Dong also cited, ( born April 14, 1934 in Suzhou, † 27 December 1997 ) was a Chinese number theorist ( Analytic number theory).

Pan studied in 1952 at Peking University, where he was 1961 at Min Behold ( and Hua Luogeng ) doctorate. After that, he was from 1961 to Shandong University, where he became Professor in 1978 and which he was President from 1986 to his death in 1997.

Pan is well known for his important contributions to the Goldbach conjecture. He wrote several books on number theory and specifically the Goldbach conjecture. In 1991 he was elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was Vice President of the Chinese Mathematical Society. Pan was several times a delegate to the National People's Congress in China. With Jingrun Chen and Yuan Wang, he was awarded the National Science Award of the first class in China.
