Pandora FMS

Pandora FMS ( Flexible Pandora Monitoring System) is an open- source program that monitors the computer systems and application programs and displays their status in detail.

Functions

Pandora FMS can be seen, for example, if a network system does not respond, a website is defaced or a memory leak occurs in a server application. Pandora monitored hardware and operating systems. If problems occur, it can generate reports and send notifications via email or SMS.

The server component is indeed developed under Linux, but is implemented in Perl and runs thus in every Perl runtime environment in which the required Perl modules are available. The program can monitor remote systems using different protocols, to the extent they are supported by the third-party systems, such as WMI, SNMP, ICMP or HTTP for Web sites. Alternatively, separate software components, called agents can be installed on the observed systems, which are part of Pandora are.

History

Pandora FMS was originally developed by the Spanish programmer Sancho Lerena. The first stable release 1.0 was published on 14 October 2004. Later, the company was founded Artica, which maintains the software since then.
