Papyrus 75

Papyrus 75 ( Gregory- Aland 75, Papyrus Bodmer XIV- XV) is a very early papyrus of the New Testament. Originally it contained about 144 pages, of which 102 are either completely or still preserved in parts. It ' contains half the text of [ ... ] two Gospels ' - Luke ( Papyrus Bodmer XIV) and John ( Papyrus Bodmer XV) in Greek. He was of the Nestle- Aland (27th edition) dated as handwriting of the early third century. He is one of the oldest manuscripts ( along with 4 ) Gospel of Luke. ' The remaining fragment contains Luke 3:18-24:53 [ ... ] '. " A special feature of this code is the fact that Luke ends on the same side where the Gospel of John begins. "

The Greek text of this codex is of Alexandrian text-type. Kurt Aland placed it in Category I. The text is closer to Codex Vaticanus as the Codex Sinaiticus. The correspondence of 75 and codex B is 92% and 94 % in Johannesburg in Luke. It is consistent with 111.

Currently the manuscript is preserved in the Vatican Library in Rome.

The discovery of 75 had a fundamental influence on the textual criticism of the New Testament, as it perfectly matches the Codex Vaticanus.
