The Parabrotulidae are only three ways a comprehensive family of genuine bony fish ( Teleostei ). You are disjoint before in different parts of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean.

Features

Your scaleless, up to six inches long eel-like body is elongated. Dorsal, anal and caudal fins have grown together to form a continuous Flossensaum. The dorsal fin has 37 to 50 fin rays, the caudal fin four to six and the anal fin 34 to 43 The pectoral fins are small, with six to eight fin rays. Pelvic fins are absent. The mouth is small, the lower jaw is facing. You have two nostrils on each side of the head, but no sensory pores on the head. The ovaries are bilobed. The fish are up to six inches long.

System

The systematic position of the Parabrotulidae is controversial. They are considered either as relatives of Aphyonidae in the order of the viscera Fishy ( Nelson, 2006) or ( Zoarcidae ) are placed in the vicinity of the eelpout.
