Parícutin

The volcano Paricutin in Mexico.

The volcano Paricutin has a height of 2,800 meters and is located in the Mexican state of Michoacán. The city of Uruapan is located about 20 kilometers southeast of the volcano.

Formation

The volcano was born on 20 February 1943. Doing so, a new vent opened at about 40,000 km ² of Michoacán - Guanajuato volcanic field, which covers more than 900 monogenetic cinder cone ( only once erupting volcanoes). Average can be expected about two outbreaks per 1000 years in this field.
