Park Min-gyu

Park Min - gyu ( * 1968 in Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam -do) is a South Korean writer.

Life

Park Min - gyu studied creative writing with a major in poetry at the Chung- Ang University and worked as a chief editor of a magazine before he devoted himself to writing.

In 2003 he debuted with two novels, both of which were very successful. For legends of underground heroes, he received the Munhakdongnae writer and price for the last Fan of Sammi Superstars the Hankyoreh Literature Prize. His writing style was something completely new and caused a sensation in the Korean literary world. Unusual metaphors and descriptions, sentences and paragraphs which ignore all the rules of grammar, narrative structures that set the logical causal law repealed and characters that behave like characters from a comic book. There was nothing about his writing style that could be described as usually.

Even if it be unusual style of writing the self-proclaimed title of " hybrid ruleless writer" reaped, his style but is considered to be entertaining and easily accessible. His debut work underground legends about heroes is about the American comic book heroes such as Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. The main character, called Bananaman, hits just these heroes and formed with them the Super Squad. While parks work parodied American heroism, it criticizes but also simultaneously hegemonic force.

In 2007 he received for a boat on the Yellow River the Yi Hyosŏk Literature Prize. 2010 his short story was adapted for the stage a nap. Herein also took over the Super Junior singer Kim Ki- bum a role.
