Parka (Band)

Parka is a three-man German indie rock band. It consists of Martin "Fly" fly Schmidt ( guitar, vocals), Gianni Dedola (bass) and Raphael Sbrzesny (drums). The group plays since the end of 2006 in this lineup. Their first live appearance in this formation was in early 2007.

History

The three musicians from Cologne, Neuss and Stuttgart first met in the late summer of 2006 at a contact degree at the Hamburg Conservatory of Music know, and found there the band " Parka " together.

Already in 2007, shortly after the founding, the Germans won Parka Rock and Pop Prize, the talent competition of the German Rock & Pop Musicians Association ( DRMV ). In the following years they recorded their first EP "Your life begins " in-house at Tinseltown Music in Cologne and played over 150 live performances until their second EP " grenades from Light" published in 2009. Parka played concerts among others, Silbermond, Revolverheld Die Happy.

In 2011 Parka as support for The Happy were on tour in Germany and published in the autumn, the first single of the album " Up" as an EP with two other titles as well as the music video for " Up". The video clip had 7 October 2011 on MyVideo premiere. On January 20, 2012 followed with "one", the second single release. The video clip reached in a week already over 70,000 spectators on MyVideo and was subsequently also by the TV station ProSieben on his website involved.

The recorded and self-produced debut album "Out " was released on 24 February 2012, the single release again I on June 1. In addition, the band on September 28, 2012 released the live DVD siege of the city of Rottweil, which was recorded at a concert in a historic brewery hall in Rottweil.

Music

The singer and guitarist of the band, Martin "Fly" Fliegenschmidt he composed his all tracks on the tape. Parka play so far only German -language titles, which they justified by the fact that in his native language much more could also say between the lines and it is important that people understand the lyrics, as can only be reached as many people. The band is considered as one "of a generation that wants to position itself politically and socially, but without the classic images of the enemy ." In the texts, the band often resorts to social criticism.
