Parts of Holland

Holland is one of the traditional areas of the county of Lincolnshire in England. The other areas are Lindsey and Kesteven.

Holland was from 1888 to 1974 an administrative county. This was then dissolved as well as the administrative counties Lindsey and Kesteven; for the traditional county of Lincolnshire was the first time the status of an administrative county. The name has been preserved in the new district of South Holland.

The area of Holland is very flat and has a high ground water level on; It is therefore quite marshy. Holland was formerly divided into three so-called wapentakes, namely Elloe, Kirton and Skirbeck.
