Patensie

Province

Patensie is a small town, part of the Cacadu District and is located in South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. Not far from it are the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve and the Cockscomb Mountain, the second highest mountain in the Eastern Cape. The name Patensie goes back to a Khoikhoi word, it means resting place for cattle. In the area around the city especially citrus fruits and tobacco are grown, which are supplied by the nearby Kouga dam with plenty of water. In addition, the tourism began to play a greater role.

Patensie was founded in 1858 and has 4271 inhabitants ( 2001).
