Patricia De Martelaere

Patricia De Martelaere ( born April 16, 1957 in Zottegem; † 4 March 2009 Wezemaal community Rotselaar ) was a Flemish writer and professor of philosophy.

Patricia De Martelaere studied philosophy at the Catholic University of Louvain and received her doctorate in 1984 with a dissertation on the Scottish philosopher David Hume. She has taught at the Catholic Universities of Brussels and Leuven.

She has published several novels and collections of essays on philosophical, literary and psychological themes.

Your work as a writer, she started already as a 14- year-old with the youth book of the wilderness Koning ( king of the wilderness ). 1988 her first novel Nachtboek van een appeared slapeloze ( night Book an insomniac ), which was awarded the prize for the best debut. Most awards got De Martelaere for her published in 2004 novel Het antwoord onverwachte ( The unexpected response ).

De Martelaere died on 4 March 2009 at the age of 51 years from the effects of a brain tumor.
