Patricio Hernández

Patricio José Hernández ( born August 16, 1956 in San Nicolás de los Arroyos ) is a former Argentine footballer.

Playing career

Club career

Patricio Hernández began his footballing career in 1974 with Estudiantes de La Plata. In the Copa Libertadores winner was already three times he played, among others, along with Rubén Pagnanini, José Luis Brown and Miguel Ángel Russo, won with the club, however, no national championship in Argentina. In 1982 he left Estudiantes after 195 games and 56 goals in La Liga and played for Torino Calcio from now in Italy. He was with this change of a then-record transfer from Estudiantes and brought a lot of money into the club coffers. Estudiantes was able to strengthen his squad and won twice in 1982 and 1983, the Argentine championship. Hernández, however, played two years for Torino Calcio and made 57 games (15 goals) in the Serie A. In season 1982/83, an eighth place in the standings was achieved in 1983/84 we finished fifth. In the same year Patricio Hernández moved to league rivals Ascoli Calcio, with whom he descended, however, and then returned to Argentina and CA River Plate from Buenos Aires joined. Here he remained only one year. But he was there part of the team of River Plate, which won the 1986 Copa Libertadores. National

Patricio Hernández was used between 1979 and 1982 ten times in the Argentine national soccer team. A goal not succeed in doing. From coach César Luis Menotti Hernández was appointed to the South American squad for the FIFA World Cup 1982 in Spain. In the tournament, in which the Argentines were started as defending, however, he did not play. His team, however, reached the second round, after is in the group stage of the second place behind Belgium and in Hungary and El Salvador. In the second group stage, then you failed to eventual champions Italy and Brazil.

Coaching career

After the end of his active career Patricio Hernández became a coach. He coached the team, among other of his old clubs Estudiantes de La Plata, for which he served from 1998 to 1999 on the sidelines. He also was a coach for example, Banfield (1997 and 2007), the Racing Club (2000), River Plate (2001) and the Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa (2001) ..
