Patrick John

Patrick Roland John (born 7 January 1938) is a politician dominicanischer. Between 1974 and 1979 he served as Prime Minister of the Caribbean island.

John began his political career as a successful trade union leader and as Mayor of Dominica 's capital, Roseau. After the surprising resignation of Prime Minister Edward Oliver LeBlanc John was determined on 27 July 1974, his successor. During his tenure, Dominica received on November 3, 1978, independence from Britain.

The economic problems, not least caused by corruption and personal advantage, forcing John on June 21, 1979 resignation. In 1981 he failed the plan to overthrow with the help of members of the Ku Klux Klan, the government of Prime Minister Eugenia Charles.
