Patrick Leahy (athlete)

Patrick Leahy (Patrick Joseph " " Pat " Leahy, born May 20 1877 in Charleville, Ireland, † 1926 in the U.S.) was an Irish athlete, who competed in the Olympics for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

Leahy grew up as one of seven brothers on the land between Cork and Limerick. All the brothers were outstanding athletes. 1901 was conducted by Patrick Leahy with 1.95 meters the worlds best list in the high jump at, 1898, he should be even jumped 1.96 meters. 1902, 1904, 1905 and 1908 led his brother Con Leahy on the global leaderboard in the high jump and 1910 his brother Timothy. Patrick Leahy was also World Best in the long jump at 7.29 meters in 1902 and the triple jump in 1900 and 1901.

At the Olympic Games in 1900 Patrick Leahy competed in three jumping events. He was second in the high jump with 1.78 meters, the long jump with 6.95 meters of third parties, and in the triple jump with 13.36 meters, he finished in fourth place. At the Olympic Games in 1908 Patrick Leahy took part again in the high jump. With 1.77 meters, he missed the final, where his brother was second- Con.

1909 emigrated Con and Patrick Leahy to the United States.
