Patrioticheskaya Pesnya

The Patriotic Song (Russian Патриотическая песня / " Patriotitscheskaja Pesnja " ) from 1990 to 2000, the Russian national anthem. In the composition, it is a work for piano by Mikhail Glinka. Occasionally, the anthem was confused A Life for the Tsar because of a text similar to the final chorus from Glinka's opera, but is it doing to different compositions. Independent of this, just this opera choir had been proposed as a new Russian anthem.

The song was 1990, selected prior to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, as the anthem of the Russian SFSR. In 1999 a competition was held to find a text for the anthem, the Wiktor Radugin with his text Славься, Россия! ( " Be praised, Russia !") Won. However, this text was never officially part of the anthem, as the reigning since the beginning of 2000, new President Vladimir Putin spoke with the new anthem of the Russian Federation for a return to the melody of the old anthem of the Soviet Union.
