Patrulla Águila

The Patrulla Águila is the aerobatic team of the Spanish Air Force.

History

In 1956, the first aerobatic team of the Spanish Air Force was established, then it flew the North American F - 86F Sabre. The four machines were no separate paint or markers. First appearances were held, among other things in Rome nor in 1956. The last known appearance of Ascua mentioned group found in 1962 on the German Spangdahlem Air Base instead.

Patrulla Águila which was only founded on July 4, 1985. These are now stationed at the Air Force base near San Javier La Manga del Mar Menor and fly from there seven Spanish CASA C 101 Aviojet. The machines differ only in finish and the standard for aerobatic smoke system and can be refitted for combat.

On 28 August 1988, the "Eagle Patrol " the last time so far occurred in Germany. It was the day of flying on Air Force Base Noervenich, in parallel with the tragic air show in Ramstein on which occurred the same day the air show disaster at Ramstein, took place.

The Season

The squadron Patrulla Águila consists of seven pilots, a commander and five reservists. Each pilot must have a minimum of 1000 flight hours on fighters or fighter-bombers, of which at least 300 hours in jet aircraft. Who is it starts out as a reservist and increases when he is tried, the second year in the regular team on. The membership lasts generally three years.

The formations are presented in association with six aircraft and a solo pilot. The squadron completed relatively few appearances outside of Spain during the season. The engine sound of the CASA C 101 Aviojet is legendary, like the spectacular landing of all seven machines in close association as a conclusion of the show - which makes no other season.

Since 2006, an online journal appears with current reports and activities of the Patrulla Águila. To date, 41 articles have been published.
