Paul Bernd Spahn

Paul Bernd Spahn ( born October 17, 1939) was until his retirement in 2005, Professor of Public Finance at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.

Special attention gained its 2002 commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ) published a feasibility study in relation to the Tobin tax, " On the feasibility of a currency transaction tax ". See also: Spahn tax.

Spahn in 1972 received his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin in Economics. After working for the German Institute for Economic Research ( DIW), he worked at various universities, including Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.. and the Australian National University, Canberra, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) operates. He is a consultant for many international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe EUR. He was also a member of the Independent Commission on Funding and Finance for Wales in the UK.

Spahn was 1986-1987 Vice President of the Goethe University Frankfurt and from September 2006 to June 2008, the first executive director of the House of Finance.
