Paul Friedrich Posenenske

Paul Friedrich Posenenske ( born September 9, 1919 in Breslau, † April 2004) was a German architect of functionalism.

Life

Posenenske studied from 1936 to 1941 at the Technical University of Wroclaw and at the Technical University Berlin and worked since 1945 at various Hessian state building authorities. There, he designed especially school buildings, which are characterized by a very complex and delicate for the modern design language. In many buildings, artists were involved, for art as for the color scheme. As head of the State Construction Office Offenbach, he developed the concept of corridor -less school construction.

The dormitories in Frankfurt, however, were very purist and followed the regime established by Ferdinand Kramer at the University of Frankfurt formal language. From 1958 Posenenske was a professor at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Kassel. In the same year he set up his own architectural office in Offenbach am Main and Kassel.

Paul Friedrich Posenenske was married to the painter and sculptor Posenenske. After his divorce, he married again and lived with his wife and three daughters in Offenbach's house. In 1987 he moved with his wife to Pottum in the Westerwald, where he worked until his death and lived.
