Paul Henckels

Paul Henckels ( born September 9, 1885 in Hürth, Rhineland, † May 27 1967 in Kettwig, today food -Kettwig ) was a German actor.

Career

Paul Henckels began his career after attending the Academy of Performing Arts at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus as an actor, worked as a stage director and theater director.

From 1936 to 1945 he was engaged at the Prussian State Theater in Berlin under the direction of Gustaf and one of the founders of Castle Park Theatre in Berlin.

He played from 1923 in his first film INRI until his death in more than 230 films, mostly as a supporting actor. Among other things, he has worked with directors such as Helmut Weiss, Fritz Lang, Lupu Pick, FW Murnau, Josef von Sternberg and Arnold Fanck worked.

Typical of his film roles was his Rhenish accent and the fixation on roles as fellow and quirky Lord. Unforgettable is his portrayal of high school professor Bömmel in Feuerzangenbowle (quote: " Wat is de steam engine As always imagine us once janz stupid ... " ) and the veterinarian Dr. Pudlich in the movie series Immenhof from the 1950s.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Paul Henckels continued to perform well in television programs on, for example, in " The Merry Wine Round " with Margit Schramm as hostess and Willy Schneider as winemaker, where Henckels gave the Stammtisch chairman, and in " detention for adults" as professor, who declared in a class four adults, including the well-known from the Feuerzangenbowle actor Hans Richter and cabaret artist Edith Hancke, interesting things.

Paul Henckels was married to his fellow actress Thea Grodtzinsky. His first wife was Cecilia Brie, a former actress with whom he had three children; after the divorce, she married the painter Eberhard Viegener.

His grave site is located on the South Cemetery in Dusseldorf.

In his native town of Hürth the Mansion Catering was renamed after him in " Henckels " in June 2006.
