Paul Janet

Paul Alexandre René Janet ( born April 30, 1823 in Paris, † October 4, 1899 ) was a French philosopher.

Janet completed his schooling at the Lycée Saint- Louis and at the École normale supérieure. In 1848 he got a job as a lecturer in moral philosophy at the University of Bourges, and three years later he moved himself in function to the University of Strasbourg. 1857 Janet took up an appointment at the Collège Louis -le-Grand in Paris, where he worked as a lecturer in logic.

In 1864 he was entrusted with a teaching position as professor of philosophy at the Sorbonne and in the same year took him to the Académie des sciences morales et politiques in as a member. When Janet in 1870 his " philosophy du bonheur " published, this book was publicly praised and awarded a medal.

In 1880 he became a member of the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome.
