Paul Matschie

Georg Friedrich Paul Matschie ( born August 11, 1861 in Brandenburg an der Havel, † March 7, 1926 in Berlin- Friedenau ) was a German zoologist. He was from 1890 to 1926 head of the mammal department at the Zoological Museum in Berlin.

According to him, the Matschie tree kangaroo ( Dendrolagus matschiei Forster & Rothschild, 1907) and the Brillengalago ( Galago matschiei Lorenz, 1917) are named.

He was in 1903 working for the Cologne Chocolate producer Ludwig Stollwerck with texts for Stollwerck Collecting pictures and wrote, among other things the texts for the collection album No. 6 - Stollwerck 's animal kingdom. Other authors of the writer Hans Eschelbach, the journalist Julius Rodenberg, the writer Joseph of fluidized, the poet Carl Hermann Busse, the novelist Gustav Falke, the poet Anna Knights were many others.

Matschie described in 1912 from what is now Papua New Guinea, the Timboyok Tree Kangaroo ( Dendrolagus goodfellowi buergersi ) and 1916 Finsch tree kangaroo ( Dendrolagus inustus finschi ) and the Ifola Tree Kangaroo ( Dendrolagus Dorianus notatus ).
