Paul Wheelhouse

Paul Wheelhouse ( born June 22, 1970 in Belfast) is a Scottish politician Northern Irish descent and a member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Life

Wheelhouse grew up in Edinburgh and attended the Stewart's Melville College. He then studied Business Administration at the University of Aberdeen and then moved to the University of Edinburgh, which he left with a master's degree. Since 2000 Wheelhouse lives in the region Berwickshire.

Political career

In 2001 Wheelhouse was elected to the District Council of Berwickshire and joined the SNP 2003. In the British general election, 2010, he applied for the direct mandate of the constituency of Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, but received only about 9.2 % of the votes and missed so much a place in the British House of Commons. In the Scottish Parliament election 2011 candidate Wheelhouse in the newly created constituency of Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire. He received the second highest share of votes behind the Conservative John Lamont and thus missed the direct mandate. Since Wheelhouse, however, was also placed on the Regional Evaluation of the SNP for the election Region South Scotland, he received as a result of the election results a list of the four mandates of the SNP in this election region and moved for the first time in the Scottish Parliament.
