Paul Wranitzky

Paul Wranitzky, Czech Pavel Vranický ( born December 30, 1756 in Neureisch, Margraviate of Moravia; † September 26, 1808 in Vienna ) was a German - Moravian- Austrian composer and conductor of the Viennese Classicism.

Life

Paul Wranitzky and his half-brother Anton played a prominent role in the musical life of Vienna. Paul received as a child training in vocal, organ and violin and went to Vienna in 1776 to study at the request of his parents theology. There he studied composition with Joseph Martin Kraus. Since 1785 until his death he was concertmaster of the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra, whose leadership he took over around 1790.

As secretary of the Vienna Composers firm he applied ( toll-free ) election of Joseph Haydn member of society.

As musical director of Count Johann Nepomuk Esterházy (from 1785 ) and director of the newly formed orchestra of the Vienna Court Opera at the Theater am Kärntnertor (from 1795) the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven was a friend. Haydn insisted that Wranitzky conducted in 1799 and 1800 performances of creation. In Beethoven's instigation, he conducted the premiere of his first symphony, he was one of the most respected conductors of his time. Like Mozart, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge Crowned Hope was a member since 1776, the Grand National of Freemasons of Germany.

In 1932 ( 22nd District ) was named the Wranitzkygasse after the composer in Vienna Danube city.
