Paula Gosling

Paula Gosling, a native Paula Osius, ( born October 12, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan ) is an American- British mystery writer who has lived in England since 1964. Mostly she writes under the pseudonyms Ainslie Skinner and Holly Baxter.

Life

As the daughter of an inventor from Detroit Paula Osius already astonished her teachers at the State Wayne State University in Detroit about their skills in poetry. After completing her university degree, she worked as a copywriter at a local advertising agency. Dissatisfied with the local work and in search of adventure and romance, she moved over the age of 25 with a friend to England. In a London advertising agency, she met her future husband Christopher Gosling, whom she married in 1968. From this marriage two daughters were born, Abigail and Emelie. This period of time determined the basis of their writing: While her husband worked to Gosling felt underutilized and began writing. The very first novel, A Running Duck ( German killing is a lonely business ) became a success and assured her 1978 award for the best first novel by the British Crime Writers' Association ( CWA).

The marriage to Christopher Gosling was divorced in 1977. 1981 married Paula Gosling the businessman John Hare, however, used the surname Gosling continue for their subsequent publications. Gosling lives in Bath in the west of England.

Paula Gosling is a member of the British Association of Crime Writers Authors ' Association ( CWA), there was a board member from 1984 to 1990 and 1988/1989 Chair of the CWA Committee. Many of her novels are available in German translation.

Awards / Honors

Nominations for the 1988 Edgar Allan Poe Award - Best Short Story category of the Mystery Writers of America ( MWA) for Mr. Felix.

In the CWA list of the 100 best crime novels of all time, A Running Duck is ranked 63rd Even Jo Ann Vicarel honors the novel for the year 1978 in A Reader's Guide to the police procedural.

Similarly, The Zero Trap is for the year 1979 in the list of the 100 best crime novels of the 20th century, the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association (IMBA ).

William F. Deeck 's My One Hundred Best Mystery Books Hoodwink listed as the best crime novel of the year 1988.
