Paulo Macedo

Paulo José Ribeiro Moita de Macedo (* July 14, 1963 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese managers and politicians. Since June 21, 2011, he has held the office of Minister of Health in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho.

Life

Paulo Macedo, son of the painter Moita Macedo graduated in business management from the School of Economics and Management ( ISEG ) of the Technical University of Lisbon with licenciatura.

After graduating, he stayed on as a research assistant at its training center operates at the same time he began his professional career in the Department of Financial Advice audit firm Arthur Andersen. Later he taught at the ISEG.

Macedo had a number of positions in bodies of different companies. Among other things, he was Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Portuguese bank Banco Comercial Português, but also had other tasks in this com pany. He also sat on the board of the exchange operating company Euro Next.

2004 he was appointed by the then Portuguese Prime Minister José Manuel Durão Barroso as Head of the Portuguese Tax Investigation Agency ( DirecçãoGeral dos impostos ). This office he held until 2007.

On 24 February 2006 it rose Aníbal Cavaco Silva, President of Portugal, in the state of Grand Officer ( Grande- Official) of the Order of Infante Dom Henrique.

On 17 June 2011, the previously victorious in the general election Pedro Passos Coelho Paulo Macedo suggested as one of four non-party ministers in front of his cabinet. President Cavaco Silva then appointed him on 21 June 2011 as the Minister of Health.

Private

Macedo is married and has two children.
