Paulo Sérgio Silvestre do Nascimento, known as Paulo Sérgio ( born June 2, 1969 in São Paulo, SP, Brazil ) is a former Brazilian footballer.

Career

From the nineteenth year Sérgio played four years at Corinthians São Paulo, was loaned for one season to Novorizontino and came to Germany in 1993 to Bundesliga Bayer 04 Leverkusen, for whom he played until 1997. He made his debut on August 7, 1993 ( 1st Round ) 2-2 draw at MSV Duisburg, with him to the intermediate 1:1 also his first goal - and with 17 in 32 games in his first season a remarkable strike rate - succeeded.

In 1997, Sérgio to Italy and played two years for AS Roma. On August 31 (1st Round ), in a 3-1 win at FC Empoli, he had his debut. He completed all 34 league games in Serie A and scored 12 goals; his first succeeded him on 23 November (9th Round ), in a 2-2 draw at home to Vicenza Calcio, a " double " even (Matchday 30 ) on 19 April in a 5-0 win at home against the Newcomer Brescia Calcio. His last assignment he was crowned on 23 May 1999 ( 34th Round ) in a 4-1 victory in Vicenza with his 12th goal.

1999 Sérgio returned back to Germany; for Bayern Munich he gave on August 22 (2nd Round ) in the 0-2 defeat at Bayer 04 Leverkusen - just against his former club - his debut. When and with Bayern he scored his biggest club successes. In 2002 he moved to the United Arab Emirates and played one year for Al- Wahda. In 2003 he returned to his native Brazil, Bahia, back and finished in the same year his active career.

For the Seleção, he was appointed between 1991 and 1994 13 times, with the participation in the 1994 World Cup and winning the world title was the culmination of his career for him.

Criticism struck to meet him when he returned (34th Round ) in the 1-1 draw against 1 FC Kaiserslautern, rather than how it accords with practices of fair play, the subsequent throw to the opposing team on 18 May 1996 ( Kaiserslautern played the ball out to allow the treatment of an injured opposing player ), an attempt on goal from Kaiserslautern took that led to the goal, and thus to remain in the German top flight - and for the opposing team to descend from this - meant.
