Pavel Soloviev

Pavel Alexandrovich Solovyov (Russian Павел Александрович Соловьёв, scientific transliteration Pavel Alexandrovich Solovyov; born June 16, 1917 † 13 October 1996) was a Soviet engine designer.

Over 35 years, from 1953 to 1989 he was the successor of Arkady Dmitrievich Shvetsov the Soviet development office in Perm, which today is called Awiadwigatel. He developed there in 1960, the bypass engine D -20P for the Tupolev Tu -124, one of the first dual-circuit turbofan engines worldwide and the first in the USSR. It was followed by the D- 30 for the Tupolev Tu-134, the most-built Russian jet engine. His most famous engine is the PS -90 for Russian transport aircraft, which is still widely used today.

He was awarded the Hero of Socialist Labor and received the Lenin Prize and Order of Lenin four.
