Pedro Bantigue y Natividad

Pedro Bantigue y Natividad ( born January 31, 1920 in Hagonoy, Philippines, † November 20, 2012 in San Pablo City, Philippines ) was Bishop of San Pablo.

Life

Pedro Bantigue y Natividad received on 31 May 1945 the ordination to the priesthood. He was born in canon law ( JCD ) and theology (DD) doctorate. From 1945 to 1954 he was secretary of the Archbishops Michael J. O'Doherty, Gabriele M. Reyes and Rufino Jiao Santos.

Pope John XXIII. appointed him on 29 May 1961 Titular Bishop of Catula and Auxiliary Bishop of Manila. The Archbishop of Manila, Rufino Jiao Cardinal Santos gave him on 25 July 1961, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Juan Bautista Velasco Díaz OP, Bishop of Hsiamen - Amoy, and William Joseph Duschak SVD, Apostolic Vicar of Calapan. He was a Council Father of the third session of the Second Vatican Council.

On January 26, 1967, he was by Paul VI. appointed the first bishop of San Pablo and introduced in the Office April 18, 1967. On July 12, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.

He was a member of the Bishops' Conference of the Philippines ( CBCP ), particularly active in the Marriage Tribunal and as Chairman of the Commission for life, clergy and prison ministry. In 1976, he was responsible for the finances of the CBCP.
