Peel Sound

Geographical location

Peel Sound is a strait in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut. Located in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago -, it is limited to the east of Somerset and Iceland to the west of Prince of Wales Iceland. It combines the Barrow Strait, part of the Parry Channel, to the north with the Franklin Strait in the south.

The Peel Sound has a length in the north-south direction of 230 km. Its width varies between 25 and 50 km.

To the west of the strait lies between Iceland and Prescott Prince of Wales Iceland the side bay Browne Bay.

There are a number of islands in the Peel Sound. These include: Prescott Iceland, Iceland Lock, Vivian Iceland, Iceland Pandora, Otrick Iceland, Iceland Barth, De la Roquette Islands and Iceland Gibson
