Peitlerkofel

The Peitlerkofel ( Ladin Sass de Pütia, Italian Sass de Putia ) is with 2875 meters the highest mountain in the Peitlerkofelgruppe in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, Italy. It is located on the territory of the commune of St. Martin in Thurn and Puez - Geisler.

Because of its peripheral location in the Dolomites and the steep Nordabrüche the Peitlerkofel is referred to as the northwest cornerstone of the Dolomites.

The 2813 meter high peak western side is referred to as Little Peitler.

The hike to the summit requires from the col between small things and Peitler Peitlerkofel on some climbs ( difficulty level I) sure-footedness and freedom. Here safety ropes are installed. The Little Peitler can be hiked.

Possible starting point is the Zanser Alm ( 1,689 m) at St. Magdalene in Funes. The climb follows Gampenalm ( 2062 m), Schlüter mountain hut ( 2301m ) and Peitlerscharte ( 2,357 m ). To Peitlerscharte one can ascend to St. Martin in Thurn also from Würzjoch or Campill ( Ladin Longiaru ).

Near the Würzjochs west of Peitlerkofel are the Alpe Fornella and Ütia de Göma, can be turned in somewhere. Also on the eastern side (facing Campill ) is a snack bar. To the Peitlerkofel around a hiking trail.
