The Pelion Range is a mountain range in the center of the Australian state of Tasmania. It is located in the center of the Cradle Mountain - Lake St. Clair National Park.

Naming

The mountain was named after the Pelion (English: Pelion ) named in Greece.

The Overland Track passes through the mountains in the Pelion Gap. From it many peaks of the highest mountains in Tasmania's distance, including Mount Ossa, Tasmania's highest mountain, Mount Pelion East at No. 16 the height rankings and Mount Pelion West at No. 3 of the height ranking ..

The mountains are composed mainly of diabase, which originated in the Jurassic period.
