Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen

Pelle Gudmundsen -Holm Green ( born November 21, 1932 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish composer.

Gudmundsen -Holm Green studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 1955 and came out with the first works. His early works are influenced by Carl Nielsen, Vagn Holmboe, Béla Bartók and Igor Stravinsky. Around 1960 he joined by knowing the development of serialism at Darmstadt Per Nørgård and Ib Nørholm, but soon found to his own style, which is characterized by reduction and minimalism, but also absurd conditions involving with. Gudmundsen - holmgreen studied the works of Samuel Beckett, which have been relevant for him. But his music also refers Baroque music, jazz, folk ( from Greece and Spain) and a Gregorian chant with. Gudmundsen -Holm greens oeuvre stands but also close to the American visual arts and pop art, he was equally as inspired by Robert Rauschenberg John Cage and Edgard Varèse.

For his composition " Symfoni / ANTIFONI " (1980 ) received Gudmundsen - holmgreen the Music Prize of the Nordic Council.

Works

Gudmundsen -Holm Green wrote, inter alia, nine string quartets, pieces for piano and organ, chamber music, concertos for cello and piano, ensemble and orchestral music.
