People's New Party

The New People's Party (Japanese国民 新 党, Kokumin Shinto, engl. The People's New Party ) was a small political party in Japan, which was founded in August 2005 by opponents of postal privatization. The so-called "rebels" had previously been excluded from Prime Minister Koizumi Jun'ichirô from the Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP). In March 2013, it broke up.

A review of the postal privatization and other reforms to liberalize the economy of Koizumi cabinets continue to be among the key demands of the party. In the general election in 2012 the party won only one constituency in Kagoshima. Takeshi Noma left the party in February 2013, so she is left with two MPs in the upper house. In March 2013, the party broke up after a decision of the chairman Jimi. The other party member Kazuyuki Hamada did not support the decision to dissolve.
