Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira (better known as Pepe, born February 26, 1983 in Maceió, Brazil ) is a Portuguese football player. His position is central defense.

Career

Clubs

Pepe began his career in his hometown of Maceió in SC Corinthians Alagoano. As a 18 -year-old, he left Alagoas on your own and went to Portugal, where he played in various clubs before he was obliged by the Portuguese first division club Maritimo Funchal. There he conquered on the side of Mitchell van der Gaag quickly a regular place in central defense.

After three years, he finally came to FC Porto for around two million euros. With the Portuguese club Pepe celebrated many successes. On April 21, 2009 Pepe lost the league match against Getafe Madrid after a foul on his opponent in the penalty Casquero mastery. In his opinion, the Getafe player had intentionally fall. After the referee's whistle, he joined the fallen player several times, pushing him to the ground and beat Juan Albín face. Pepe was sent off with a red card and swore at the referee while leaving the pitch. After the game, he was banned for 10 league games.

After his recovery, Pepe struggled especially with his heading ability back into the team and is now an undisputed key players in central defense. In July 2011 he extended his contract at Real Madrid for another five years until 2016.

After the Brazilian-born Pepe had received Portuguese citizenship in August 2007, he celebrated on 21 November 2007 against Finland his debut in the national team.
