Per-Mathias Høgmo

Per- Mathias Høgmo ( born December 1, 1959) is a former Norwegian football player and current coach.

Playing career

Per- Mathias Høgmo 1978 moved from Gratangen IL at that second division side FK Mjølner, where he played for six years. After that he went for two years to league rivals Tromsø IL and managed with this team in 1985 to move up to the first Norwegian league. There was a brief interlude at the Swedish club IFK Norrköping, which should remain abroad until his career end the only and last stop. Back in Tromsø played Per- Mathias Høgmo first time in the first Norwegian league. In the 1986 season the club played resistant to the down and entronn this end very scarce. Much more successful, however, the performance was in the national cup, which the club won in the same season with a 4-1 final victory against Lillestrøm SK. At this time Høgmo was also the first time appointed to the Norwegian national football team, however, came only on a bet. 1988 Tromsø reached a respectable fifth place in last Høgmos 1989 season was even reached the third place under coach Tommy Svensson. After this season, he ended his active career and became a coach.

Coaching career

First coach station was Gratangen IL, where Høgmo also began his Spielerkarierre. After two years with Tromsdalen UIL he moved one more time to Tromsø and peaked in the 1992 season in eighth place in the table with the team. It was followed two years at the amateur club Fossum IF during which Høgmo also got his first job at the Norwegian Football Association. Between 1993 and 1996 he coached the U-19, U -15, U -16 and U-17 Junior National Teams. But the way he was still active as a club coach and managed in 1995 with Moss FK promotion to the Tippeligaen. From 1997 to 2000 he was the coach of the Norwegian women's national team and made first attracted attention on the international stage. At the World Women's World Cup USA 1999 as they lost in a penalty shoot-out against Brazil and was fourth. One year later Høgmo sealed the biggest success of his career at the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney. His team secured against the United States with a 3-2 final victory after extra time the gold medal.

After this triumph, he returned to the men's area and trained with the U- 21 team for the fifth junior team of the Scandinavians. In 2004 he moved for the fourth time to Tromsø and managed with the team to fourth place in the table and the related qualification for the Royal League. Høgmo but did not renew his contract at the end of the season and instead went to the Norwegian giants Rosenborg, who these days was to be in crisis. By season's end of 2005 it managed thanks to good performances but to fifth place. After Rosenborg in the 2006 season, already 10 points behind had to competitor and leader of SK Brann, joined Per- Mathias Høgmo for health reasons as temporary coach back. Interim coach Knut Tørum led the team back on track and Rosenborg was at the end of the season champion. Just two days after winning ended Høgmo at a press speculation about his future and announced end of his career.

2009 Høgmo joined then again a coaching job and headed until 2012, the fate of Tromsø IL. There he had been up for the fifth time in his career. In the 2013 season, he took over as coach in the Swedish first division club Djurgårdens IF..

On September 27, 2013 he succeeded Egil Olsen as Norway coach.
