Per Olof Sundman

Per Olof Sundman ( born September 4, 1922 in Vaxholm, † 9 October 1992 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish writer and politician.

Life

Per Olof Sundman attended a high school in Stockholm. In his youth he was active in the Nazi organization Nordisk Ungdom. He was a soldier and held various professions, he was from 1949 to 1963 host hotel in northern Sweden. He worked as a local politician. As a member of Centerpartiet he was from 1969 to 1980 deputy in the Reichstag. From 1975 to 1992 he was a member of the Swedish Academy.

In his novels he treats human behavior in extreme situations, he often describes loner in the Northern European habitat. He used an objective, reportage-like writing style. His novel engineering Andrées Aviation was founded in 1982 by Jan Troell filmed ( German release title: The Flight of the Eagle ).
