Features
The moths reach a wingspan of 32-38 millimeters. They have gray and light brown textured wings, the center of which runs on a dark, partially broken transverse band. Near the wing outer edge in the middle ( Saumfeld ) a bright spot is visible. The antennae of the males are in contrast to the filamentary of the females strongly feathered.

Occurrence
The animals live in coniferous and mixed forests, especially at high altitudes.
Way of life
Flight times and caterpillars
The Softwood bark release forms one generation per year, which flies from late June to early September. The caterpillars occur from August in appearance and hibernate.
Food of the caterpillars
The caterpillars feed on the needles of Norway spruce ( Picea abies), pine (Pinus spp.) And juniper (Juniperus spp.).
