Perizoma Group

The Perizoma group is a named with a Notnamen Attic black-figure vase-painters group.

The Perizoma group received their Notnamen after the loincloths, carrying many of the characters of the group, athletes, dancers and weapons symposiasts. Many of the most decorated of the group were the vases around 520 BC introduced stamnoi. The drawings of the small group are considered to be very distinctive. The characters, especially the athletes, appear quite powerless. Besides stamnoi found in the oeuvre of the group also einhenkelige kantharoi reminiscent of Etruscan forms and were therefore destined for export.
